Join internationally renowned Buddhist teacher, Glen Svensson, to explore the theory and practice of Buddhist compassion meditation.
About This Course
In this enriching four-day course, Glen Svensson introduces the practices of compassion meditation, designed to cultivate a boundless, open and affectionate heart towards oneself and all sentient beings.
Over 12 insightful sessions, we explore key aspects of compassion from the Buddhist tradition.
The course begins with the Four Immeasurables as taught by the Buddha, which provide a suitable foundation for Bodhicitta. Alongside the Four Immeasurables – loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity, Glen explores methods for dealing with attachment and anger and other near and far enemies to the loving heart.
On the third day, we delve into Bodhicitta, the mind of enlightenment, examining great compassion, the practice of exchanging self with others, and the powerful technique of Tong-len, or taking and giving.
The final day focuses on integrating all these practices, exploring the four-fold balance model: motivational balance, attentional balance, cognitive balance, and emotional balance.
Throughout the course, you will learn essential qualities to nurture during meditation, practical tools for dealing with challenges, and methods for integrating compassion into daily life. Each session includes both teaching and guided meditation, offering you the opportunity to deepen your understanding and experience of compassion meditation.
This programme is suitable for those new to compassion meditation as well as those with established practice, providing valuable insights and techniques for all levels of experience.

The Teacher
Glen has been a student and practitioner of Tibetan Buddhism since 1995. He graduated from the seven-year Masters Program in Advanced Buddhist Studies of Sutra and Tantra at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa (Pomaia, Italy) in 2004. Following this, he completed his studies with an eight-month retreat at Oseling Center in Spain.
Originally from Australia, Glen attained a BSc in IT at the University of Queensland. After four years working in Brisbane, he spent the next eight years working and traveling around the world. Having ‘bumped’ into Buddhism during his travels (“I read a book about Buddhism and it seemed so logical and many things resonated extremely well with my innate beliefs”), he attended his first Dharma teaching in Dharamsala, India in 1995.
Since 2005 he has taught and led meditation retreats in India, Europe, North America and Australia with a clear and structured teaching style emphasizing the integration of philosophical view, meditation and daily life conduct. He is a close student of Lama Alan Wallace and has served as his co-teacher on several of Lama’s eight week retreats.
