Conscious Movement Chi Kung (Qi Gong) Classes with Dan Brierley

Summer Term • 6 weeks • from June 21st • 10-11am (Europe/London)

Summer Term - Working with the Fire Element

Join us for our Summer Term of Conscious Movement Chi Kung with experienced instructor, Dan Brierley, who served as principal teacher of Chi Kung at the London College of Elemental Chi Kung for over 14 years.

Everyone is welcome to come along, regardless of level, it is a friendly, no-pressure environment.

The Fire Element represents the energy of summer, a time of sunshine and long days. Within the body, the fire is linked to feelings of of joy, love and laughter. The energetic quality or flow of fire is upwards and outwards.

Over the next 6 weeks we will be working with the Fire element. Through our intention, our breath, and, of course, movement. Embracing the qualities of the fire element in two main ways:

First, a more internal yin approach which will focus on the heart and all of the associations and connections we make to our hearts energy whilst honouring the traditional relationships including the quality of the heart known as Shen.

Secondly, embracing the more external yang flow of Fire which comes with the movements of the Crane. Graceful, open, flowing, energetic movements. A beautiful form that expresses all aspects of Fire whilst helping to balance the relationship of Fire to the other Elements.

All are welcome, whether experienced students or completely new to Chi Kung or Conscious Movement practice. Recordings are made available every week. We operate on a sliding-scale model of fees, and bursaries are available for those on a low-income.

About Chi Kung

Chi Kung is an ancient system of health and exercise that originates from China, where it has been developing and evolving for thousands of years. People have used this practice for millennia, not only to support and maintain health but also as a form of conscious exercise and meditation. Thus, Chi Kung online classes are suitable for any age group, and any level of health and fitness.

Elemental Chi Kung is a branch of Chi Kung that is rooted in Classical Chinese medicine. It is based on a system of five elements, Earth, Fire, Metal, Water and Wood.

Chi Kung guides us to a better understanding of the health and function of our bodies, it encourages optimum health and fitness. Each Movement form we practice is based on one of these elements. Moreover, elemental Chi Kung heals and strengthens the body, calms the mind, and lifts the spirits. Chi Kung tends to focus on movement, flow and breath. Supporting the internal structures and systems of the body, improving breath control and increasing general vitality and awareness. Furthermore, It includes Static postures that condition and strengthen the body.
