An Introduction to Trauma Release Exercises with Chris Simpson

May 18th, 2024 • 2pm--4pm • Castlehaven Community Centre, 23 Castlehaven Rd, London NW1 8RU

Overview

Join us for a transformative two-hour introductory workshop on TRE led by Christopher Simpson, an experienced practitioner and facilitator of personal transformation practices.

TRE (Trauma Release Exercises or Tension Release Exercises) is a groundbreaking approach that uses a simple sequence of exercises to induce therapeutic shaking, a natural and safe response from the body that helps restore balance and reduce stress. This involuntary shaking mechanism is a natural process and helps reboot the central nervous system and alleviate the tension built up by everyday stress or past trauma.

In this introductory session, Christopher will guide you through the foundational movements of TRE that promote grounding, connection, and vitality. This practice is designed to help you tap into your body’s inherent ability to heal itself, enhancing your capacity to manage stress and build resilience for a healthier, more balanced life.

The workshop is suitable for individuals at all levels of fitness and requires no previous experience. You will learn to understand and trust your body’s responses, allowing for a self-managed, resilient approach to the challenges of life.

Christopher has extensive experience guiding people from all walks of life. He is well practised at leading groups and individuals through personal processes with warmth and sensitivity.

Why TRE?

TRE is a really practical, effective way of tuning in to your sense of capacity and can be transformative in terms of helping manage day-to-day stress as well as more acute symptoms of trauma. Shaking is natural and safe, and helps bring the body into equilibrium. As we tune into the body’s natural resources for self-healing, we reconnect, re-establish balance, and restore our sense of agency.

Some people may benefit from individual sessions to grow into trust in their body and the process but the vast majority of people will be able to attend a group session and begin to integrate the practice into their lives with ease.

What to Bring

Please wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement and bring a yoga mat for exercises on the floor. We also recommend having bottled water to stay hydrated throughout the session.
