About This Seminar

Grief, especially when the death is traumatic, has an emotional, spiritual, and psychobiological trajectory. This presentation will explore the nature of grief on the entire self, adaptive and biological responses to severe stress (psychological and biological), including posttraumatic stress, acute stress, and other social and systemic factors that impact grieving individuals sense of loneliness
. We will also examine evidence-based strategies to mitigate the long-lasting effects of traumatic grief experiences and good sources of social support for those in mourning.

The Teacher

I’m Dr. Jo, founder of the international NGO the MISS Foundation, author of the award winning best seller, “Bearing the Unbearable: Love, loss, and the heartbreaking path of grief”, Professor at Arizona State University and director of the Graduate Certificate in Trauma and Bereavement Program there, and a bereaved mom since the death of my daughter in 1994.
