We are excited to continue our series of webinars with esteemed guest speakers: researchers, scholars, contemplatives and respected teachers from different traditions of practice.
The first event in the series, Dr. Eve Ekman’s webinar on burnout and emotional balance, is now openly available on our YouTube channel here (please watch and share the links with friends + on social media!).
The second event, Ondy Willson’s immersive workshop on seeking meaning through guided imagery, is likewise available online now.
The next meeting in the series will feature two Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) teachers, Christian Howard and Lobsang Tenpa, who will be exploring the topic of joy and the way of using it in our practice.
After an overview of the 7 distinct flavours of joy that practitioners can cultivate by applying the Buddhist Dharma, Christian and Lobsang will focus on three quintessential practices that can be combined to support our wellbeing in the world that often feels mired in suffering.
These three methods—harvesting joy, empathetic joy, and rejoicing—can be used to strengthen our emotional balance, cultivate profound states of concentration and make our progress towards awakening smoother and faster.
If you feel you could use more sparks (or blazing fires) of joy in your life and practice, join us for this event!
Christian Howard (all kind pronouns) is a certified Cultivating Emotional Balance teacher, a narrative designer and cultural strategist building equitable futures for individuals, communities, and organizations. His partnerships in the US and abroad have focused on cultivating liberatory design practices to uproot oppressive power structures and inspire individual and collective transformation.
Over the years, he also aught contemplative practice and secular ethics in the US, Europe, Japan and other regions, and worked with such training modalities as Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB), Creating Compassionate Identities and Mindfulness-Based Mind Training (MBMT).
Venerable Lobsang Tenpa (he/they) is a Tibetan Buddhist monastic, translator, and Cultivating Emotional Balance instructor.
Born in Siberia, he earned BA and MA degrees in South Asian studies, worked in social media, and eventually received monastic ordination in Nepal. In addition to years of Buddhist studies and translator work, he also trained as a secular ethics and mindfulness instructor in the Netherlands, the UK and the US.
Some of Lobsang’s primary interests in the domain of contemplative practice are the four immeasurables (love, compassion, joy, and equanimity), the tradition of Tara practice, and EcoDharma; in exploring these topics, he has had the great privilege to share his practice with multiple communities in Europe, North America and South Asia.
