About Our Autumn/Winter 2024 Term - Shibashi- 18 Steps
Conscious Movement Chi Kung
Consisting 18 individual movements that flow together. You will be
moving the whole body, twisting and turning, rising up and sinking
low stepping forward and back. The Shibashi form brings balance to
the mind and body in a focused and mindful way. A wonderful
addition to any Qigong (Chi Kung) practice.
What appears flowing and effortless on the outside is a result of
cultivating deep relaxation on the inside. Being mindful of the way
we breathe and move. The form promotes blood circulation and
strengthens the systems of the body. Boosting stamina, promoting
flexibility and strength. The soothing rocking movements and gentle
stretching of the Shibashi forms reduce both mental and physical
stress. Regular practice can improve general health and wellbeing,
aid the circulation and digestion and help to release tensions held in
the mind and body. A form of moving meditation Shibashi does
take a little effort to fully learn, but once learned you will have a
wonderful tool that will support your general health and well-being.
All are welcome, whether experienced students or completely new to Chi Kung or Conscious Movement practice. Recordings are made available every week. We operate on a sliding-scale model of fees, and bursaries are available for those on a low-income.

About Chi Kung
Chi Kung is an ancient system of health and exercise that originates from China, where it has been developing and evolving for thousands of years. People have used this practice for millennia, not only to support and maintain health but also as a form of conscious exercise and meditation. Thus, Chi Kung online classes are suitable for any age group, and any level of health and fitness. Elemental Chi Kung is a branch of Chi Kung that is rooted in Classical Chinese medicine. It is based on a system of five elements, Earth, Fire, Metal, Water and Wood. Chi Kung guides us to a better understanding of the health and function of our bodies, it encourages optimum health and fitness. Each Movement form we practice is based on one of these elements. Moreover, elemental Chi Kung heals and strengthens the body, calms the mind, and lifts the spirits. Chi Kung tends to focus on movement, flow and breath. Supporting the internal structures and systems of the body, improving breath control and increasing general vitality and awareness. Furthermore, It includes Static postures that condition and strengthen the body.
