About Our Summer 2024 Term - Fire the Element of Summer of the Heart and of Joy

Conscious Movement Chi Kung

For the 6 weeks of this course we will be working with The Crane  a beautiful form that embodies the qualities of the Fire Element blending the flow of Fire and Water to help cultivate a balanced relationship to all the Elements through ourHearts Shen.

Shen one of the 3 treasures of the 5 Elements and the internal arts. Shen translates as Spirit a word that has many meanings. One interpretation we can connect with as we practice the Crane form is that Shen represents the Spirit with which we meet life, all of the Joys and the challenges that life brings. Thea Crane is a joyful and uplifting form embodying the positive qualities of the summer.

All are welcome, whether experienced students or completely new to Chi Kung or Conscious Movement practice. Recordings are made available every week. We operate on a sliding-scale model of fees, and bursaries are available for those on a low-income.

About Chi Kung

Chi Kung is an ancient system of health and exercise that originates from China, where it has been developing and evolving for thousands of years. People have used this practice for millennia, not only to support and maintain health but also as a form of conscious exercise and meditation. Thus, Chi Kung online classes are suitable for any age group, and any level of health and fitness.

Elemental Chi Kung is a branch of Chi Kung that is rooted in Classical Chinese medicine. It is based on a system of five elements, Earth, Fire, Metal, Water and Wood.

Chi Kung guides us to a better understanding of the health and function of our bodies, it encourages optimum health and fitness. Each Movement form we practice is based on one of these elements. Moreover, elemental Chi Kung heals and strengthens the body, calms the mind, and lifts the spirits. Chi Kung tends to focus on movement, flow and breath. Supporting the internal structures and systems of the body, improving breath control and increasing general vitality and awareness. Furthermore, It includes Static postures that condition and strengthen the body.
