Drawing from his great learning and profound meditative experience, Yangthang Rinpoche composed the short meditation manual entitled A Summary of the View, Meditation, and Conduct, in which he presents the basic framework of the practice of the Great Perfection, regarded by many as the pinnacle of Tibetan Buddhism. This text introduces techniques to investigate the mind in a radically empirical, rational way, which is both profoundly contemplative as well as rigorously scientific.
Lama Alan Wallace is an internationally recognised Buddhist scholar and teacher who has studied and practiced Buddhism for over 45 years. He spent 14 years as a Tibetan Buddhist monk, ordained by H.H. the Dalai Lama and he has studied with many great teachers from the Geluk, Nyingma, Sakya, Kagyu, and Theravada schools.
Lama Alan Wallace received his Dzogchen training and authorisation to teach from the Ven Gyatrul Rinpoche. Lama Alan Wallace translated for Gyatrul Rinpoche for seven years and received the transmission of the of Dudjom Lingpa’s practice termas, which are published in three volumes. Last year, Alan received the Transmission and teaching for A Summary of the View, Meditation, and Conduct, from Ven. Yangthang Rinpoche .
Apart from his training in Buddhism, Lama Alan Wallace has a degree in physics and philosophy of science, and a doctorate in religious studies. Drawing on this multi-faceted background, he brings many years of dedicated and profound practice and the wisdom of authentic experience to the challenge of integrating traditional Buddhist training with the needs of the modern world.
Time: 10.30am – 4pm (Registration with tea and coffee from 9.30am)
